First, I have a confession to make. Actually, I didn’t know that today was Doctor’s Day, until I saw a “Happy Doctor’s Day” picture from my Wechat Moments（微信朋友圈）this morning, which hit me with mixed emotions.
Thanks to Google, I learn the holiday was officially signed into U.S. law in the early 1990s by US President George Bush. The history of Doctors’ Day dates back to the early 1930s, however.
The date of March 30 was chosen to celebrate Doctors’ Day because it is the anniversary of the day that anesthesia was first administered to a patient, also in Georgia, by Dr. Crawford W. Long in 1842.

In China, I think, a national holiday also ought to be established to recognize doctors, their work, and their contributions to society and the community.
I have to say I don’t know what we would do without doctors. Actually I do know, we would die! Sometimes a lot sooner and in a great deal more pain.
I would rather not call you angels in white coats or saints of any sort. But I do find it amazing that no one like you could go to school so long, put so many working hours as interns, and still care. That’s the most extraordinary part.
