小白老师说：First, I have a confession to make. Actually, I didn’t know that today was Doctor’s Day, until I saw a “Happy Doctor’s Day” picture from my Wechat Moments（微信朋友圈）this morning, which hit me with mixed emotions.
Thanks to search engine, I learn that the holiday was officially established in 2011 by Chinese Medical Doctor Association.
The date of June 26 was chosen to celebrate Doctor’s Day because it is the birthday of Sun Simiao, author of the earliest Chinese encyclopedia for clinical practice.
In China, I think, it’s particularly meaningful to eastablish such a national holiday to recognize doctors, their work, and their contributions to society and communities.
I have to say I don’t know what we would do without doctors. Actually I do know, we would die! Sometimes a lot sooner and in a great deal more pain.
I would rather not call you angels in white coats or saints of any sort. But I do find it amazing that no one like you could go to school so long, put so many working hours as interns, endure so much verbal abuse and physical violence, and still care. That’s the most extraordinary part.
