这是 2012 年真题中的一个短对话听力。我们先来看选项：

在这段对话中，出现了习语 be on the safe side.

这个习语的意思是：“万无一失；凡事小心为妙；为了保险（或安全）起见 ”。

这个习语表明了男士的态度，是整个题的 “题眼”，即解题的关键。

safe 最常见的意思是“安全的”，而 side 是“一边，一侧”，我们常说 “on one side，…on the other side，…”，意思是 “马路的一侧、另一侧；事物的一方面、另一方面”。 “on the safe side” 也就是处于安全的一侧，自然就是 “为了安全起见” 的意思了。

3. on the side

副业；兼职。例如：
